“The Friends of the Library is a non-profit organization whose members share a passion for books and learning. Our Friends help support the library, present special programs and encourage reading and use of the library through fundraising and personal involvement.”
Written above is the mission statement of the Friends of the Guernsey County Library. On Nov. 4, 2010, a group of like-minded individuals met at the Crossroads Branch and determined to band together to benefit the library system. Since that time, several fundraising ideas and program opportunities have been discussed.
The “Friends” group makes possible several different ways in which a patron can support the library. There may be patrons who can give monetary donations. Or, there may be those among us who have the ability to present a program, or help serve refreshments. Even just offering a good word of encouragement can be a form of support. All levels of talent and ability are useful.
Any and all local residents are encouraged to join. Membership applications may be obtained at any of our three branches and cost $15.00 per individual. Checks should be made payable to Friends of the Guernsey County Library. You will receive personal satisfaction from being a part of something greater than yourself. Take pride in your community library system and make new friends.
