We invite you to visit our Local History and Genealogy Department. The Finley Room is staffed by library personnel at all times. Brief mail and e-mail inquiries are welcomed. We have 3 microfilm and microfiche reader/printers and a photocopier. The cost for copies is .25 cents per sheet.
When corresponding with the Genealogy Dept. by mail or e-mail, please follow the guidelines listed below.
- Be sure to have the complete information regarding your request.
Due to the increasing volume of requests, we simply cannot remember or track what has been said in previous correspondence with each patron.
- Include your regular street address with all requests.
This will avoid unnecessary delays in sending requested items while we write back for your address.
- Make your request as specific as possible.
Please request a specific record for a specific person. Much as we would like to, we simply can't take on requests for any or all information in the collection on a given person or surname.
- Include as much of the following information with your requests as possible.
What type of record you want, on whom, the exact or approximate date of the event, plus the county and state of the event.
- Limit each request to 3 records.
Due to the high volume of requests received, we must limit the time spent on each one. If more is requested than we can do for you at one time, you will be asked to resubmit.
- Mail your requests to:
